Not every good hour in Kaladhungi requires a jeep or a booked safari slot. A simple walk through the village covers a surprising amount of ground, and it's free.
Start on the main bazaar road in the morning, while shops are opening and the street is at its most active — this is the easiest way to get a feel for daily village life, far more so than passing through in a vehicle.
From the bazaar, head toward the River Boar. The riverside stretch is quieter and considerably cooler, especially in the morning or toward golden hour, and it's a good spot to simply sit for a while rather than rush through.
Loop back via the museum road, past the Jim Corbett Museum, before returning to the bazaar — a route that takes a couple of unhurried hours and covers most of what makes Kaladhungi worth visiting outside the reserve itself.
Comfortable shoes and a water bottle are really all you need. It's a small village, but it rewards walking it slowly rather than trying to see everything at once.
